eBay DESCRIPTION The Jules Bianchi Monaco GP skid plank keyrings are back! Here we have a race used car part keyring from the former Manor Marussia Formula One team. It’s a section of the legality skid block, or plank, which runs the entire length of all Formula 1 cars and is made from a compressed wood and resin construction. This plank was used by the late Jules Bianchi at the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix weekend, a race weekend where Jules scored the team’s and his own highest finishing position of 9th place. This is an historic piece of Motorsport memorabilia. Each skid plank keyring have a wonderful finish from being slammed into the race track, bounced across the kerbs, picking up oil and rubber from around the circuit… …They really do look very cool. They’ve been finished with an emblem of Jules race number, qualifying, race positions and his fastest lap for that grand prix race weekend. They come with their own certificate of authenticity which doubles as an art card which was designed by myself and is a limited edition in it’s own right, it will be numbered with the number of the edition your part is from the run, dated with the date it was made and signed off by myself and specially designed Jules Bianchi recycled card pillow box which looks superb and makes it all ready to gift to your loved one. The planks are made from a phenolic resin material called Permaglass made by BTR Permali. This is a glass reinforced laminated product, so it’s no any longer a wooden plank at all! The material has good fire resistance, produces little smoke and toxic fumes, making it ideal for its application in F1. Plank must measure 300mm in width, with a tolerance of 2mm. It must run from the frontmost point of the reference plane at 330mm behind the front wheels centerline to the rear wheels centerline. Skid block may comprise of no more than three pieces, the forward one of which may not be any less than 1000mm in length. WHY I DO THIS Having witnessed the waste produced by Formula One over the past 20 years I decided that I could make a difference and at the same time give fans of the sport a unique opportunity to own the ultimate in F1 memorabilia. There are stories about fields in southern England having shipping containers packed full of F1® cars and parts being buried, certainly this was true of teams up the early 2000’s. More recently many teams archive parts, but these archives have to be emptied, many items are destroyed (see the secretly filmed video of what one of the largest teams in F1® do when clearing out their archives) and due to their inability to be recycled, are put into landfill, something which will only have a huge detrimental effect to our environment in the future. Below I have embedded video of what McLaren do with their parts they no longer have a use for, pretty saddening and shocking that so much material like this ends up in landfill. ABOUT ME I had always wanted to do something about the waste our sport creates, when about 15 years ago the idea of selling obsolete, damaged, scrapped car parts came to mind. I didn’t want to just sell on the parts on as is, I wanted to give my fellow fans the chance of owning the best memorabilia I could possibly offer and with my arts background I found that these F1® car parts really leant themselves to being redesigned and re-purposed into something new, something beautiful, something cool. Over the years however I have had to call a halt to this process due the ongoing battle I’m having with Multiple Sclerosis and the inability to physically be able to put these gifts together. Right now I am having periods of good health which enable me to get back to doing what I absolutely love, the design and manufacturing of upcycled F1® car part gifts. I am using this opportunity to give something back to the organisations which have helped not only myself, but every single person with MS to maintain, manage and cope with the symptoms this illness presents. POSTAGE Due to the Royal Mail losing so many parcels and the increase in scam buyers I have been forced into sending all parcels by recorded delivery and as such I can no longer offer a free postage method.
